Ruhaniyat (روحانیت) - An Orchestral Sufi Experience

Venue: The Hall, Aviva Studios, Water Street, Manchester, M3 4JQ

A world premiere by Rushil Ranjan featuring vocalists Jyoti Nooran, Abi Sampa and Sarthak Kalyani, with Manchester Camerata conducted by Melvin Tay

Step into a world of transcendent sound with Ruhaniyat (روحانیت) – a powerful new composition from acclaimed composer and co-founder of the Orchestral Qawwali Project, Rushil Ranjan.

Blending the spiritual depth of Sufi devotional music with sweeping classical arrangements, Ruhaniyat brings together an extraordinary line-up of artists – Jyoti Nooran, who rose to fame as one half of the Nooran Sisters, and is celebrated as one of the most iconic voices in contemporary Sufi music; the genre-defying Manchester Camerata, known for their bold collaborations with the likes of New Order and the Pet Shop Boys; and Ranjan himself, recently announced as the Royal Albert Hall’s latest Associate Artist, and whose compositions have graced stages from the Edinburgh International Festival to London’s Southbank Centre as well as major productions for Netflix, ITV and Film4.

They are joined by outstanding vocalists Abi Sampa, and Sarthak Kalyani. Sampa is renowned as a genre-shattering Qawwal, veena virtuoso and multi-instrumentalist, whose work as lead vocalist of the Orchestral Qawwali Project has captivated audiences around the globe. Kalyani is a singer, producer and composer whose work bridges Indian classical and Western styles. Having collaborated with A.R. Rahman and performed worldwide, Sarthak brings depth, versatility and a distinct voice to Ruhaniyat.
